Nora Melissa Kirkland

Nora Melissa Kirkland

Our Lord God stretched out His arms to receive Nora Galloway Kirkland to her eternal home with Him on February 27, 2026. Having known Jesus as her Lord and Savior, Nora eagerly awaited her final call while on this earth. Nora was born on March 9, 1948, in Geneva, Alabama.

Nora loved wholeheartedly as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. There was never enough time to spend with her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. They shared the hard times, laughed in the good times, and were inseparable throughout. Even in her busy life as a nurse, caring passionately for others, Nora sought out time to talk and be with family and friends. She never hid her feelings of love for her son, Russell, and her grandsons, Brandon and Austin, proudly boasting, “I love them boys.” In 1994, she married John Kirkland and called him “the love of my life.” Together they lived life to its fullest, praising God, driving everywhere from the south to the northwest, fishing, gardening, canning, shopping for flowers, breaking bread with others, and bringing family together. Nora may have frequently said, “I’m meaner than hell,” but we all knew that was code for, I’ve got a heart of gold. Being the youngest of seven, she was the blend of all the greatest qualities of each sibling: Caring, organized, outrageously fun, creative, hardworking, generous, and most of all loving. If you’ve been touched by Nora, pass on her loving kindness to another; that is her legacy.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents, Arie and Mona Galloway; husband, John Kirkland; brothers, Roy, Douglas, and Charlie Galloway; and sisters, Juanita Adams, Dorothy Dean, and Mary Reed.

Nora is survived by her son Russell Wolfe and wife Iris; grandsons, Brandon and wife Emily, and Austin Wolfe; great granddaughter, Lillian Wolfe.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM CST Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Jeffrey DuBose officiating. Interment will follow at Travelers Rest in Samson, Alabama with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her memory to Son Life Fellowship Church, 2420 Lawrence Rd, Marianna, FL.

Special thank you to VITAS Hospice for their care and support to Nora and her family and friends.
