Larry Monroe Nicholson

Larry Monroe Nicholson, of Marianna, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 77, with his children and sisters by his side on July 23, 2025. Larry was the oldest of four born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James and Mary Nicholson on March 22, 1948. Larry loved fishing, music, playing guitar, farming, God and his country. He enjoyed being outdoors, attending baseball games and visiting Mt. Mitchell, NC. Following in his father’s footsteps, Larry joined the Navy at the age of 18 and traveled all over the world. After his honorable discharge, Larry rejoined his parents and siblings where they resided in Charleston, SC. While working on the back docks of J. M. Fields department store, he met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Bowers, and married her after 6 weeks of dating. After a few years and many moves down through the southeast, Larry and his family made their final home in Marianna, Florida. Big Larry, as many called him, moved to Jackson County as a farmer turned John Deere Parts Salesman. He will always be remembered as having a friendly face, generous heart, and genuine disposition. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Bowers Nicholson, brother-in-law Stephen Stocks, and nephew, Jamie Warmack. He will forevermore be remembered by his children, daughter Dana Wester (Kevin), son Drew Nicholson (Tasha), grandchildren, Tucker, Hailey, Harrison and Madison. Larry was the big brother of a sister Catherine Stocks (late Stephen), a brother Jim Nicholson, a baby sister Lisa Schexnayder (Dale), and a host of in-laws, out-laws, nieces and nephews. At the request of the deceased, he will be cremated, and no service will be held. At the request of the family please feel free to donate to Emerald Coast Hospice in his name. Arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
