Peggie Sue Banks

Peggie Sue Banks, a cherished pillar of her community and loving matriarch of her family, peacefully departed this life on February 22, 2026, in Marianna, Florida. Born on October 10, 1954, in Chattahoochee, Florida, Peggie was a life-long resident of Sneads, Florida, where she built a legacy of love, faith, and joyful memories. She joins her beloved husband of 48 years, Hinton Banks, who predeceased her on June 21, 2019, and her parents, Leo Peacock and Agnes Hamilton Peacock; as well as her brother, Rocky Peacock.

Warmly known as Peggie by all, she was the heart of her family. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, daughter, Beverly Banks lovingly referred to as “BB” and son, Johnny Banks with his wife Rebecca. Peggie’s legacy will continue to flourish through her baby brother, Tony Peacock, and through the lives of her four spirited grandchildren, Gage Banks, Tucker Banks, Dahzjah Perry, and Ta’Shonda Key. Her presence will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Jeanette Newman, brother-in-law Clinton Banks, her cousin and best friend Thelma Beloat alongside her husband Pete; all of whom she held very dear.

With an enthusiasm for life’s simple pleasures, Peggie was an avid fisherwoman, indulging in the serenity of nature’s beauty and the thrill of a catch. The echoes of laughter at the bingo hall will remind many of the joy Peggie brought into the room. Her love for her family was shown most often when she cooked, and she seized every opportunity to spend precious moments with them, nurturing a legacy of familial bonds that will remain unbroken. Peggie’s life was an embodiment of gratitude, friendship, warmth, and unwavering love—a testament to a well-lived life.

Her life story is not merely one of dates and places, but a rich tapestry woven with the love and connections she shared with so many. Peggie Sue Banks will be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the countless ways she enriched the lives of others. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate the blessings of her presence and the cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, with the service beginning at 11:00 AM Central Time in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
