Yvonne H. Byrd, known lovingly as Von, age 90, of Cypress, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida.
Von was born on November 9, 1935, in Marianna, Florida to the late Louise Howell Hamilton and Milton Hamilton. Von married Mike C. Byrd in 1954 and they had two sons.
Von lived a life marked by faith, loyalty, and adventure. She was a kind, gentle soul who was loved by all who met her. Von was a devoted servant of God and a cherished member of Cypress Community Church for many years. She worked at Florida State Hospital and also as a sitter later in life, always taking on the role of caretaker. Von enjoyed spending time at the beach, as well as traveling--whether taking a cross-country road trip, flying off to Europe, or cruising through Alaska. She rarely turned down the chance for a good adventure. But, her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Von was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Mike C. Byrd; her parents, Milton and Louise Howell Hamilton; and her brother, Buddy Hamilton.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Byrd and wife, Peggy, of Graceville, Florida, and Thomas Byrd and wife, Tammy, of Cypress, Florida; her six grandsons, their spouses, and great-grandchildren: Jason and Lacey and their sons, Ty and Tucker; J.D. and Eva and their daughters, Ruthie and Lilly; Jared and Michael; Sean and Jessie and their children, Aidan, Aria, and Warren; Nick and Lauren, and their son, Finley Cecil; and Philip and April and their children, Tyke, Taylin, Tanlyr, and Tansley. She is also survived by her sister, Paula Johnson (Aenon), of Thomasville, Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Cypress Community Church with Pastor Melinda Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Community Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the funeral services from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Cypress Community Church.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Von's memory to Cypress Community Church.
The family would like to recognize pallbearers: Sean Byrd, Nick Byrd, Philip Byrd, Jason Byrd, J.D. Byrd, and Blake Johnson.
A special thank you to Jackson Hospital for their care and concern. To celebrate Von's vibrant spirit, the family invites our guests to wear pastels or bright colors in lieu of formal black. Her life was truly a blessing to us all, and her memory will be treasured always.
