She peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on July 2, 2026, at her earthly home with her children by her side. Zane was preceded in death by her beloved son, Lury Theroance Gilbert; her parents, Sebie Lee and Flossie Russ; and her sister, Deborah Russ. Forever cherishing her precious memories are her children: son, Dexter Gilbert (Tracey), and daughter, Kristy Gilbert (Terrence); five grandchildren, Bo, Clay, Keynan, Coby, and Dexi; ten great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Christine, Mary Jean, Jodie (Mamie), Stevie (Jackie), Guy, and Stephanie. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special memories will also be treasured by her cousin, Valerie, who faithfully sent her flowers every birthday and Mother's Day; her special family friend of more than forty years, Adrian Packer of Mobile, AL, who was like a daughter to Zane; her special cousin, Baldon C. Barkley of Atlanta, GA; and her special listening ear, LaTesha Weatherington of the Slocomb/Stateline Community. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, her legacy of faith, love, sacrifice, and service will live on in all who were blessed to know her. We rejoice in knowing that Zane Anita Russ Gilbert has heard the words:
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
