There will be a Garden to Table workshop on fall gardening from six p.m. to eight p.m. at the Ag Center at 2741 Penn Avenue in Marianna. Second Harvest of the Big Bend will have a free nutrition and education class from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Marianna Branch of the Jackson County Public Library. There will be group discussions about nutrition for youth and adults, cooking demonstrations with taste test, a raffle and fresh produce.

Jackson County 4-H will have an open house cookout from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Penn Avenue Ag Center for students to learn about the group’s clubs.

The Panhandle Public Library Cooperative System will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the PPLCS office, located at 2862 Madison Street in Marianna.

The Early Childhood Center will have an open house from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for HeadStart and VPK.

African American Alzheimer’s Caregiver Training and Support will have a program at the Marianna Branch of the Jackson County Public Library from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.  The program will include caregiver skills building and self-care, basic characteristics and warning signs of dementia as well as dementia risk reduction strategies and community resources.

McChapel AME Church at 4963 Old US Road will have an anniversary celebration for their pastor the Reverend Darnell West at 10:00 a.m. The guest speaker is Elder Lillie Christie of Lift Ministries of Tallahassee.

The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement will have its Annual Ice Cream Social at 5:30pm in their gym. Admission is $8 for people 13 and up and $6 charge for children, seniors and members of the military. The Let’s Discuss it Book Club will meet at the Jackson County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. The book will be The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.

The UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center will have a Peanut Field Day at 3925 Highway 71 near Greenwood. Registration will be at 7:30 a.m. with field tours beginning at 8:40 a.m. There will be a lunch at noon. Topics will include disease, nematodes, insect control, new varieties, pesticides updates and agronomics.

The Marianna Branch of the Jackson County Public Library will have a Craft Quest at 11:00 a.m. Participants will create a beaded wind chime. Registration is required. There is a $5 registration fee. Rescue to the Max will have a Movies with Mutts event at Madison Street Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The movie will be Hachi and there will be snacks, drinks and pet friendly fun. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
