There will be a program on caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rivertown Community Church at 4534 Lafayette Street in Marianna. The event will attended Dr. Steven Spence and is put on by VITAS, Covenant Home Health and Stethoscope Staffing.

Petoberfest

Graceville Harvest Festival
The Graceville Harvest Festival will be at McNeil Technologies (formerly the VF factory outlet) starting at 8:00 a.m. Line up for the parade will be on Sanders Avenue at 8:00 a.m. and it will start at 9:00 a.m. Registration for the car show will be from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and awards will be presented at 2:00 p.m. Registration for the 5K run will be at 7:00 a.m. at the Graceville Civic Center and it will start at 8:00 a.m.
Victory Tabernacle Church of God in Christ Breast Cancer Symposium
Victory Tabernacle Church of God in Christ will have its third annual Breast Cancer Symposium from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 6752 Highway 90 in Grand Ridge. The guest speaker will be psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner CaSandra Melton. Refreshments will be served.
Bellamy Bridge Paranormal Investigations
Emerald Coast Paranormal Concepts will have two investigations of Bellamy Bridge. The 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. investigation will be for children 12-to-17-year-years-old and the $35 ticket price will also cover the required accompanying adult. The second investigation will be from 7:30 p.m.to 11:30 p.m. and is for people 18 and up. Tickets for it will cost $50.

Chipola Basketball Fan Jam
The fifth annual Chipola Basketball Fan Jam will be at 6:00 p.m. at the Milton H. Johnson Health Center. Fans will be able to meet the athletes and there will be a three-point shootout and a slam dunk contest. Admission is free.

The Marianna High School Class of 2000 25-year reunion
The Marianna High School Class of 2000 will have its 25-year reunion October 24-October 26. Planned activities include the Homecoming parade and game on Friday and a family picnic and sneaker ball/gala on Saturday. Registration is $50 per adult and $10 for children. The First Ladies of Sneads will have a Pumpkins by the Lake Fall Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sneads Park at Lake Seminole. There will be a pet costume contest benefitting Partners for Pets, a scarecrow contest, a pumpkin decorating station and photo opportunities as well as food trucks and vendors.
Alford Community Organization 18th Annual Dinner and Auction Fundraiser
The Alford Community Organization will have their 18th annual dinner and auction fundraiser, at 5:00 p.m. at the Alford Community Center on Park Avenue. The meal begins at 5:00 p.m. and it will be followed by the auction. Tickets for the event are $10.00 and are available at Alford City Hall and from ACO members. There will be a community workshop at the Sneads Log Cabin from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to discuss plans for Jackson County Museum and Dozier Memorial Park. The cabin is located at 8025 Old Spanish Trail.
Fall and winter gardening workshop
The Jackson County Master Gardener Volunteers will be having a fall and winter gardening workshop from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Jackson County Extension Office located at 2741 Penn Avenue in Marianna. Participants will learn about the vegetables that grow best during the Florida Panhandle’s cooler months. There will be educational handouts and seeds to take home as well as a hands-on demonstration of building a raised gardening bed at home. Admission is $10 per person and preregistration is required. The Jackson County Public Library, UF/IFAS Jackson County Extension and the Jackson County Master Gardener Program will have a fall seed library kickoff from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Marianna Branch of the Jackson County Public Library. Library card holders will be able to check out up to 4 types of seeds and Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions. There will be three 15-minute talks on seed starting, seasonal gardening, and caring for your planted seeds as well as a fun activity for the children.
