Phyllis T. Daniels, candidate for School Board Member, District 5

I am Phyllis T. Daniels, lifelong resident of Jackson County, candidate for School Board Member, District 5.  My husband, Leland, and I live on the family farm in the Dellwood Community where we raised our sons, Ty and Rett.  Our boys married Jackson County girls and both Ty and Kaitlyn and Rett and Jordan have chosen to remain in Jackson County to make a life and raise their families. My entire work career… 40 years … was spent in the Jackson County School System.  Throughout my career, I served in many roles in our district…. and as much as I loved them all, none of them brought greater joy or reward than the 24 years I spent as a teacher.  For a teacher, there is just nothing like the relationships you build with your students…they truly do become “your kids”, and once your kid, always your kid!   After retiring in 2022, I thought the fire of education might burn out but that has not been the case.  Three of our grands are currently enrolled in our Jackson County Public Schools and the last 2 are a year and a half way from their first day.  Plain and simple, my heart is still very much in education and I’d love to get back to work helping to provide the best education possible not only for my 5 grands, but for ALL students who are currently enrolled ... or who will enroll... in our school system.  And equally important, I will work tirelessly to provide a professional work environment for the JCSB staff that empowers, supports and inspires them to do their best every single day.   It would be both an honor and a privilege to serve as the District 5  School Board Member.
