SUMMARY OF AMENDMENTS: The rule adoption for Chapter 40A-2, Florida Administrative Code, will cover amending and clarifying rules to comply with Subsections 373.219(3) and 373.250(9), F.S., to be consistent with DEP Rule Chapter 62-41, F.A.C., to update incorrect references, to include exemptions for any prevention or recovery strategies established pursuant to Section 373.0421, F.S., and to prohibit increases to permitted allocations in a Water Resource Caution Area or Area of Resource Concern through use of a letter modification.

Town of Alford Election Voter Registration Deadline

There is an election scheduled for the Town of Alford, Florida on Tuesday April 14, 2026.

The purpose of the election is to elect TWO members of the Town Council and the Mayor. The seats to be filled are Ward I and II, Mayor and are for four-year terms each.

Town residents wishing to vote in this election must be registered to vote by Monday, March 16, 2026. Voter registration applications are available at the Jackson County Supervisor of Elections Office.

Candidate Qualifying Dates

Qualifying for the Alford Town Council Ward I and II and Mayor will begin Monday, February 23, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. and end on Friday February 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

Anyone wishing to run in the Election must be a qualified voter and be a resident of the Town limits of Alford for at least one year immediately preceding qualification. Those wishing to qualify must pay a qualifying fee of $3.00 for Council seats and $8.00 for Mayor and must file the necessary qualifying papers. Vertical Bridge Telecommunications Tower 2025463- A request to construct a 255-foot Wireless Telecommunications Facility with a 5-foot lighting rod on property leased from Larry R. McArthur Revocable Trust. The proposed tower will be located on the north side of Biscayne Road approximately .46 miles west of the intersection of Concord Road and Biscayne Road in unincorporated Jackson County. The request includes a variance to the Jackson County Code of Ordinances Section 42-542(b)(6) to waive the requirement for landscape buffering due to existing vegetation in the area of the proposed tower.

2026098 – Lucky’s Liquor and Lotto - A request from Cottondale 231 to apply for an alcoholic beverage license for a Quota license to sell tobacco, beer, wine, and liquor in sealed containers for consumption on or off the premises (7COP) as Lucky’s Liquor and Lotto, no consumption on premises is planned. The store is located at 2633 Hwy 231 in unincorporated Jackson County. There are no schools or churches within 300 feet of the retail store.

The regular meeting will be held on February 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board of County Commission Meeting Room of the Jackson County Administration Building at 2864 Madison Street, Marianna, Florida.
