Jenings Field Rebuild Update

By: Shelia Mader

The City of Marianna continues to make progress on park improvements across the community.

Most recently, funding has been secured to improve Circle Drive Park and the long-standing Wynn Street Park. Prior to that, the city received funding to help rebuild Jenings Field, one of Marianna’s oldest sports and recreation facilities.

Jenings Field suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Michael, which destroyed many of its buildings, pavilions, and playground equipment. Work on the site began earlier this year, with plans to fully rebuild the park, including the baseball and softball diamonds that have served local athletes for generations.

Construction was temporarily halted due to a delay in funding. However, the city has now been approved for a $500,000 grant. Once those funds are received, work is expected to resume on restoring the historic ballpark and recreational area.

The Times will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
