Optimist Park PeeWee Soccer Heats Up Before the Finals
By: Shelia Mader
The energy at Optimist Park in Marianna is reaching fever pitch as the youth soccer league barrels toward its grand finale. With every game this week, the intensity grew, the crowds roared louder, and the kids left everything they had out on the field.
Sharks Keep Swimming Strong
The Sharks are making waves. First, they powered past the Tornadoes 5-2, with Wynn Bruner leading the charge with two goals, joined by Lane Bruner, Tysen Smith, and Porter Tolin. The Tornadoes showed grit with goals from Kolton Hodge and Amaris Curry, but the Sharks were too much to handle.
Then came the highly anticipated showdown with the Crew, and once again, the Sharks flexed their dominance. Wynn Bruner was unstoppable, notching a hat trick. Lane Bruner and Porter Tolin each added one more, pushing the Sharks to another 5-2 victory. The Crew fought hard with goals from Camron Durham-Love and Jaycob Hitchcock, but the Sharks proved why they’re swimming at the top of the pack.
Wolves Fight Fiercely
The Wolves came out howling against the Giants, securing a commanding 6-2 win. Hudson Lyons and Ira Hoover each netted two goals, while Aniyah Fluitt and Camila Smith chipped in one apiece. Giants’ scorers La’Christian Hall and Param Patel refused to go down quietly, but the Wolves had too much bite.
Storm win 4-2 over Wolves
Later, the Wolves met the Storm in a thunderous clash. Despite the Wolves’ Hudson Lyons finding the net twice, the Storm rolled to a 4-2 victory. Jace Gross led with two goals, joined by Sabre Carter and Easton Bellamy for the Storm.
Chaos Reigns Supreme
If any team lived up to their name this week, it was the Chaos. They stunned the Cobras with a decisive 5-1 victory before steamrolling the Bolts 4-0. William Green was on fire, netting back-to-back hat tricks across the matches, while Christian Green and Fernando Lopez added the exclamation points. The Cobras’ lone bright spot came from Titus Malone, who continued his streak of finding the back of the net.
Crew Cruises Past Bolts
The Crew opened their week with a statement win over the Bolts, 5-2. Owen Morgan scored twice, with Jaycob Hitchcock, Cameron Durham, and Carlee Overdear adding to the tally. Peyton Stewart managed to strike for the Bolts, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Crew’s charge.
Cobras Strike Against Giants
The Cobras bounced back strong against the Giants, roaring to a 3-0 win. Titus Malone extended his scoring streak to four games, while Camille Balassone and Taylor Gerhart celebrated their first-ever career goals. The Giants fought bravely, but the Cobras’ venom proved too much.
With results like these, Optimist Park is alive with anticipation. Fans are packing the sidelines, parents are cheering until they’re hoarse, and the players are giving it everything they’ve got. From hat tricks to first career goals, the league is showcasing heart, hustle, and heroics.
The stage is now set for the final league of soccer in Marianna. And if this week was any sign, the finale will be nothing short of electric.
