Friday: Aphyllous: Adjective. Having no leaves. The aphyllous branches were wrapped in bright holiday lights, bringing cheer to all who passed by.

Saturday: Conciliatory: Adjective: Intended to reduce hostility or to gain favor or goodwill. As the customer’s voice rose, the manager adopting a soothing conciliatory tone and promised the situation would be remedied.

Sunday: Verso: Noun. A left-handed page of an open book, or the back of a loose document. Every new chapter begins on the verso.

Monday: Regent: Noun. A person appointed to administer a country because the monarch is a minor or is absent or incapacitated. As a regent of the university, she directed the endowment to grant more scholarships to low-income students.

Tuesday: Parenthesize: Verb. Put a word, phrase, or clause into parentheses.  Harry told us he was on a diet, but parenthesized that he made exceptions for fresh pie.

Wednesday: Complement: Noun. A thing that completes or brings to perfection. Sometimes a pinch of salt is the perfect complement to a sweet recipe.

Thursday: Ambrosia: Noun. Something very pleasing to taste or smell. The food of the Gods. The dessert your served last night was pure ambrosia.
