Alford Community Organization Gives Back

By: Kenny Griffin

The initiative is part of the Alford Community Organization’s (ACO) ongoing efforts to make literature more accessible to the public. Positioned conveniently in front of City Hall, the library box operates on a simple principle: take a book, leave a book, or simply enjoy a new story whenever the mood strikes.

The physical structure is the result of dedicated local craftsmanship. ACO member Steve McCool personally constructed and installed the library box, ensuring it is sturdy enough to protect its contents from the elements while remaining an inviting fixture for passersby.

“We want everyone to feel encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity,” a representative from the ACO stated. “Whether you are looking for a quick read or a new favorite author, this box is there for the community to obtain books whenever they are desired.”

The library box is currently stocked with a wide variety of genres to ensure there is something for every reader, including:

● Adults: Bestsellers, non-fiction, and classic novels.

● Teens: Young adult fiction and graphic novels.

● Young Children: Brightly illustrated picture books and early readers.

Local residents are invited to stop by, browse the selection, and help keep the shelves full by donating their own gently used books. With this new addition, the ACO hopes to foster a lifelong love of reading across all generations in the community.
