Word of the Day:


Friday: Pastiche: Noun. An artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist, or period. It was clearly a pastiche but I still admired the painting.

Saturday: Centenary: Noun. The hundredth anniversary of a significant event; a centennial.  The town was excitedly anticipating the parade for the centenary.

Sunday: Constellate: Verb. To gather together in a cluster. To decorate with a constellation-like pattern. As a child, I used to constellate my ceiling with glow-in-the-dark stars.

Monday: Oscillate: Verb. Move or swing back and forth at a regular speed. Waver between extremes of opinion, action, or quality. I could oscillate on the porch swing all day long.

Tuesday: Ardent: Adjective. Enthusiastic or passionate.  Burning; glowing. She was an ardent reader of historical novels, finishing two or three a week.

Wednesday: Capricious: Adjective. Given to sudden and unaccountable change of mood or behavior.  During the autumn months, the weather can be capricious.

Thursday: Raillery: Noun. Good-humored teasing. The mayor took the raillery at the reception turned roast in stride.
