Cottondale made it three in a row last Friday night with a hard-fought 42-35 win over the Franklin County Seahawks on their home field. The Hornets racked up 401 yards of total offense, finding a strong balance between the air and ground games.
After one quarter, Cottondale trailed 7-6 but evened things up 14-14 by halftime. The Hornets took control in the third quarter with two touchdowns while holding the Seahawks to just one. Both teams scored twice in the final quarter, but Cottondale held firm to secure the victory.
Quarterback Nick Heinemann led the offense, completing 7 of 17 passes for 147 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His favorite target of the night was Trashonn Collins, who hauled in all seven receptions for 123 yards and two scores. On the ground, Tramond Collins paced the Hornets with 124 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, followed by Heinemann with 98 yards on 14 carries. Trasiph Mullins added nine carries for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
On defense, Tyler Jones stood out with seven tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. Demont Jackson added six tackles, and Trashonn Collins chipped in five.
