Inside the Cupboard

This has been a challenging week to say the least.

Rec soccer kicked off last week and BAM! I have never been so pleasantly surprised as I was when texts started pouring in from results of the games on opening night.

There were eight games that night so I talked myself down from being too excited because there were a lot more following those on Tuesday and Thursday. Well, heavens to Betsy, I sent out texts for games on those days and it was a repeat of Monday. Now, was it 100% , absolutely not but was it pretty close, oh yes it was.

I am probably the only person on God’s green earth that will have more than her plateful of sports and will steadily be bugging coaches to send stats when I am up to my eyeballs in games already.

Someone called me Thursday night and asked if my ears were burning because my name was heard at Optimist Park. I said, “My ears are always burning, what did I do or not do this time?” He proceeded to tell me that a coach new to Optimist Park and fairly new to Jackson County asked two other coaches if they knew Shelia Mader. They both acknowledged that they did. He then asked them why was I repeatedly texting him about the score of the game and who on his team scored. The man telling me about this said the other lady in the conversation immediately said, “Just answer her, that’s all she wants, in her words she’ll tell you that it’s less than 30 minutes to just do it so in the words of NIKE, just do it. He said she went on to say she has the fastest texting fingers in the nation so save yourself from repeats and just go it the first time because she is the most persistent woman I’ve ever encountered. Not I say all that to say this, I am 100% confident he didn’t word it as it was told to me HOWEVER, he was 100% correct about my persistence.

Monday, the Sneads Rec Department kicked off their soccer league. Sneads Rec has done a phenomenal job with their rec department – it’s 199% upgraded everyone attending is happier than pigs in a stye with the overhaul. They are 12 teams strong with six teams competing on opening night.

No sooner than texts were sent, my phone was blowing up. I was missing a few numbers but a text to board member and numbers were secured and those texts went out. I can remember going to games in Sneads and the amenities were not what parents and coaches wanted. Today, they can thank the Sneads Rec Board and all the volunteers for pulling together. I thank all the coaches for their support and for not blocking my number which I pretty certain, some would love to do at times.

That’s it from Inside the Cupboard.
