Governor Ron DeSantis Announces New State Holiday Schedule

Governor Ron DeSantis has announced extra holiday closures for state offices this upcoming season. State offices are already scheduled to be closed on Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, but this year employees will also have Wednesday, November 26, to spend with their families.

Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, and employees will receive Friday, December 26, as an additional holiday. The same applies to New Year’s; with New Year’s Day on Thursday, state employees will also be off on Friday, January 2, 2026.

In his announcement, Governor DeSantis said, “Our state employees have worked hard throughout the year. I hope they enjoy additional time off with loved ones and friends this holiday season. The First Lady and I are thankful for their continued dedication to the people of Florida.”
