Grand Ridge Baseball Splits With Holmes County

The Grand Ridge Indians hosted the Holmes County Blue Devils’ A and B teams on the diamond last week, splitting the matchup. The A team earned a 7-0 shutout victory, while the B team fell 9-6.

A Team Shuts Out Holmes County

Coach Chris Truette gave Mason Mestas the start on the mound, and he went the distance. In five innings, Mestas allowed no runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three.

Maddox Gooden led the Indians at the plate with a hit, a walk, and an RBI. Maddox Lanier added a hit, a walk, and scored a run, while Caden Neel contributed a hit and a run scored. Emory Goodson finished with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. Brody Ragans also drove in a run.

B Team Comes Up Short

The Indians scored six runs but Holmes County answered with nine to secure the win. Jaxton Neel got the start, pitching two innings and allowing one earned run and six unearned runs on four hits and one walk. Abram Varieur came on in relief, giving up two runs on three hits and one walk.

At the plate, Varieur helped his own cause with a hit, a walk, a run scored, and three RBIs. Neel added a hit, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Carter White recorded a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Clayton Albritton and Weston Lewis each had a hit, with Lewis also scoring a run.

Grand Ridge was scheduled to host Altha on Tuesday and will welcome Roulhac today (Thursday). First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. for the B team, followed by the A team at 6:30 p.m.
