Gulf State Chemical and Welding Opens New Location in Marianna

By Shelia Mader

A well-established name in the welding and industrial supply business has expanded into Jackson County. Gulf State Chemical and Welding, which has served customers from its Blountstown base since 1988, is now officially open in Marianna. They are located at 2873 Highway 71 and can be reached by phone at (850)372-4159.

Operations Manager John Sheppard said the business had long considered opening a location in Marianna but only recently found the right opportunity.

“We have talked about putting a place up there for many, many years,” Sheppard said. “When we found that piece of property, we felt like it was a good location to do what our business is. So, we just jumped on it and moved forward.”

After several months of preparation, the Marianna location held a soft opening on July 2 and is now fully operational. The store is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The company specializes in welding supplies and industrial gases. Sheppard said customers can expect a full range of products, including welding and cutting equipment, filler metals, regulators, torches, and gases.

“We offer a full line, from welding and cutting products to propane and specialty gases,” Sheppard said.

In the near future, the Marianna location plans to begin stocking and selling steel and aluminum, both by the foot or by the stick. Sheppard added that a propane filling station is also in the works but will take a little longer to implement due to regulatory requirements.

“We’re trying to get stabilized here first,” he said. “Once we’ve got the steel and aluminum going, we’ll look at adding propane refills and a dispensary there like we have in Blountstown.”

While the team has been focused on setting up shop, Sheppard said they plan to become more involved in the Marianna community soon. “We’re looking to join the Chamber of Commerce and get more involved locally,” he noted. “Now that we’re open and things are pretty well accomplished, we’ll be looking into that next.”

The new location adds convenience for customers in Jackson County and surrounding areas needing reliable access to welding and industrial supplies. Gulf State Chemical and Welding looks forward to growing roots in Marianna and serving the region’s industrial needs for years to come.
