The Times recently interviewed Steve Campion, Senior Director of Public Relations for Comcast Florida regarding Comcast’s Network expansion in Jackson County.
He advised that Comcast is building its next-generation network in more communities access Florida, including Jackson County. They are presently expanding internet to more than 32,000 homes and businesses in 16 Florida counties. The work is ongoing and will continue across 29 counties through 2026. The projects were made possible thanks to a public-probate partnership with the State of Florida Broadband Opportunity Program and Capital Project Fund.
In Jackson County specifically, Campion advised construction is underway and they hope to complete work by summer 2026. Once finished, Comcast will have deployed more than 110 miles of fiber and expanded internet access to over 400 locations. Work is well underway near Alford and Steele City as well as near Cypress, Dellwood, Greenwood, and Two Egg. Campion advised those households coming online will be contacted by mail when internet services become available.
Other companies are also in the process of installing lines that will provide internet services in other parts of Jackson County. The Times is in the process of obtaining information from those providers and will provide updates when made available.
