Jackson County traffic accident results in two fatalities

Jackson County, Fla.- The Times received the following report from Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) concerning the wreck on State Road 2 at Eden Road Sunday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Vehicle one was a pickup truck driven by an 80-year old Bascom resident was traveling east on State Road 2 just east of Eden Road. vehicle two was a motorcycle traveling with a group of motorcycles, east on State Road 2 behind vehicle one. Driver of vehicle number one slowed abruptly and began turning left into a private driveway. This action results in the front of vehicle two colliding with the left side of vehicle two. Both occupants of vehicle two were unseated upon collision. Vehicle one traveled onto the north shoulder where the front of vehicle one collided with a fence and came to final rest facing north. Vehicle two turned onto right side and continued in an easterly direction onto the north shoulder where it came to final rest facing east.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County Fire Rescue assisted on scene.
