At its most recent meeting, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners took action on several items, including board appointments and facility upgrades.

Commissioners unanimously appointed Diane Pate as the citizen representative to the Value Adjustment Board, selecting her over another applicant, Mary Libby Keel. The Board also approved the reappointment of Martha S. Eskuchen as special counsel magistrate for the Value Adjustment Board.

In infrastructure matters, the board approved a $22,334 change order to install duct smoke detectors in 12 rooftop HVAC units at a county facility. The detectors are necessary due to corroded wiring being discovered during a recent roof replacement. The equipment is specific to Johnson Controls, making it a sole-source purchase. The cost will be covered by the county’s fine and forfeiture fund. Commissioners confirmed with staff and the county’s architect that the pricing was reasonable.
