The Midget League is the middle of the row league at Optimist Park and it brought plenty of cheers from the sidelines this week as the young athletes left it all on the field. Fans were treated to hustle, heart, and some unforgettable moments.
The Vipers squared off against the Fire in a hard-fought battle, and it was the Vipers who struck first and never looked back. With goals from Jaxson Mann and Wes Moore, the Vipers’ offense proved too tough to stop. Both squads played with tremendous energy, showing off grit and determination, but it was the Vipers who celebrated a 2–0 victory when the final whistle blew.
In one of the most exciting matchups of the evening, the Raptors roared to a commanding 4–0 win over the Extreme. Ethan Martin has quickly become a name to remember, leading the charge with three goals and setting up his teammates with sharp passes and relentless offensive pressure. Coach Josh Sanders couldn’t say enough about his team, singling out Myles Alday for his outstanding mid-field play. “He’s always within a few steps of the ball and puts his heart into every play, he’s a true playmaker,” Sanders said proudly. Myles Alday not only orchestrated the offense but also scored his first goal of the season, an emotional highlight for a player who has worked tirelessly. Davis Alday kept the Raptors on the attack, while James Williams guarded the net with confidence, preserving the shutout. The defensive duo of Mary White and Connor Sanders shone brightly, making huge stops to keep the Extreme scoreless. “Well-fought game, proud to be a Raptor,” Coach Sanders beamed after the win.
The evening wrapped up with the Cheetahs pouncing on the Mystics, securing a 3–0 shutout. Coach Colt Smith praised his squad’s rock-solid defense, saying, “Our defense is playing really well.” The Cheetahs’ offense matched that energy, with Chloe Smith scoring her first goal of the season and teammates Levi Schreffer and Ryder Floyd adding one each to seal the victory. The win was a perfect balance of defensive discipline and offensive firepower, and the Cheetahs looked every bit the confident, united team their fans love to cheer for.
It was a evening of shining stars, big goals, and proud coaches at Optimist Park. From shutout victories to first-time scorers, the league is buzzing with excitement, and these young athletes continue to inspire with their heart, teamwork, and passion for the game.
