The Lady Indians, under new head coach Mitch Rolls, are also entering the season with high expectations. Rolls, who joined Chipola on May 16, 2024, is confident his team has the pieces to compete for both state and national championships.
Ranked No. 5 in the nation heading into the season, the Lady Indians have already seen action in several scrimmages and will open regular-season play Friday and Saturday nights at Lurleen B. Wallace.
“It should be pretty good,” Rolls said. “They’ve got us ranked number five in the country in the preseason polls, so there are a lot of expectations. We brought back two really good returners from last year, signed Daniya McDonald, and returned Serena Heeren.”
Rolls added that the team brought in seven Division I transfers, which should give the Lady Indians a strong boost this year.
The Lady Indians will open at home on November 7 at 7:00 p.m. against Northeast Mississippi Community College, followed by a Saturday game at 3:00 p.m. against Community Christian College of Georgia.
Athletic Director Jeff Johnson said the annual Fan Jam offers a great opportunity for the community to connect with the teams.
“The Fan Jam is a way for the community to see our teams and show support,” Johnson said. “It’s good for students and fans to gather at the start of the season.”
