Malone Volunteer Fire Department Awarded $675,000 for New Firetruck
By Shelia Mader
The Malone Volunteer Fire Department has received official notification of a $675,000 funding award for a much-needed new firetruck, marking a major milestone for the dedicated team of first responders who have served the community under often challenging conditions.
The department, made up of unpaid volunteers, answers not only fire calls but also assists other emergency services. From traffic control at accident scenes to lift assists and vehicle fires, these men and women routinely leave their families and jobs behind to answer the call, without complaint and without compensation.
Despite working for years with outdated equipment and limited resources, the Malone firefighters have remained committed to serving the residents of their community. That commitment is finally being recognized in a tangible way.
With construction already underway on a new fire station, the recent award of funding for a state-of-the-art 2025 Rosenbauer pumper/tanker firetruck brings renewed hope and enthusiasm to the department. Though the confirmation form is still pending and an exact delivery date has not been set, the truck is expected to arrive within the next year.
The department extended heartfelt thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis, Representative Shane Abbott, Congressman Jay Trumbull, and PinPoint Results for their support in securing the funding. They emphasized that the addition of the new truck will not only improve their ability to save lives and protect property, but also positively impact the community’s ISO fire rating—helping residents avoid spikes in insurance premiums.
"This is more than a firetruck,” said one department member. “It’s a symbol of progress and a sign that our town is investing in the safety of its people.”
As Malone moves toward better equipment and infrastructure, the community can take pride in the volunteers who have long kept it safe, and now, with improved tools, can continue to do so even more effectively.
