During the regular commission meeting, Mary Smith, Public Communications Officer, called Rehberg to the podium for a formal farewell and presentation of a proclamation in her honor.

“As you know, today is Brigitte Rehberg’s last day with the Board of County Commissioners,” Smith said. “She has served as our business manager. I want to recognize her today.”

Smith read aloud a proclamation adopted by the Board that highlighted Rehberg’s career and her impact on county operations.

“Brigitte Rehberg began her tenure with the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners in 2021,” Smith read. “She worked diligently as an administrative assistant before becoming the business manager of administration. She has served this county with unmatched dedication, art, and excellence over the past four years.”

The proclamation praised Rehberg’s professionalism, compassion, and joy-filled approach to even the most demanding tasks, noting her ability to coordinate, encourage, and elevate the entire administration team.

The commissioners then took turns personally thanking Rehberg for her service.

Commissioner Paul Donofro said, “I've had the opportunity to work with Brigitte for the last four years. She was always responsible and professional, and whoever fills her shoes has big ones to fill.”

Commission Chairman Jamey Westbrook added warmly, “May I double that? Thank you.”

Commissioner Donnie Branch reflected on Rehberg’s steady support. “In the next few weeks, we’ll realize just how much we miss you,” he said. “She schooled me, taught me, and kept me in line. If you asked her to do something, that’s all it took, just once.”

Commissioner Dr. Willie Spires added his appreciation with a smile. “Most of the time, she had things done before you even asked. She’s calm, collected, and efficient. I even tried, unsuccessfully, to get her to run for office.”

Commissioner Edward Crutchfield echoed the sentiments: “She always treated everyone with respect, and she will be truly missed.”

Chairman Westbrook closed the commissioner comments on a light note, joking, “Thank you for teaching me what little bit I know. I haven’t been here very long.”

Rehberg, known for her quiet demeanor, thanked the commission and staff with heartfelt sincerity. “I just want to thank the Board for the opportunity to serve the county,” she said. “It's been a pleasure and a joy. While I’m looking forward to my next opportunity, I’m going to miss all of you. You've been just a pleasure to work with.”

Brigitte Rehberg leaves behind a legacy of excellence, warmth, and service that will not soon be forgotten.
