MHS Wrestling shines at Wolf Pack Challenge

Last week, the Marianna Bulldog Wrestlers made the trip to Jacksonville to participate in the Wolf Pack Challenge. MHS had two top ten finishers with Roy Hughes, III taking first place in the 190 division and Walt Maddox placing fourth in the 165 division.
Hughes won the 190 bracket with a solid 3-0 performance. He is ranked 23 in 1A in the last updated rankings with an update expected Tuesday. He went against a 3A wrestler from Toco Creek in the Quarterfinals and won by a decision, 9-3.
In the 1st Place match, Hughes won by a decision over Maddox Lehman (Pedro Menendez) December 15-13. Lehman was ranked 20 and Hughes 23 in Class 1A.
Walt Maddox in the 165 Division went 5-2, wrestling three ranked wrestlers. He won the Consolation Round. Round 3 - Maddox won by tech fall over Cameron Weeks (Riverside) (TF-1.5 2:47 21-6).
Third place match - Evan Chatterton (Pedro Menendez) won by decision over Walt Maddox.
In Championship Round 1, Xavier Christian (Marianna) won by fall over Leneil Alamo (Wolfson) (Fall 2:47).
In Consolation Round 1, Samuel Bethea (Marianna) won by fall over Liam Pellicer (Baldwin) (Fall 4:03).
In Consolation Round 1, 215 Division, Hezekiah Jones (Marianna) won by decision over Max Peoples (Atlantic Coast) (Dec 6-3) C.
In 106 Consolation Round, Aiden Studstill (Marianna) won by fall over Tyler Nobles (Baldwin) (Fall 0-32).
