Team Florida Angels win 7-4 over Hope Mills

Team Florida Angels opened the World Series with a solid 17-5 win over Grant Angels Allstars. They were still up from that Saturday win when they took the field Sunday morning against Hope Mills. They defeated their opposition 7-4 to move to 2-0 in World Series play.
Team Florida sent ace Peyton Clevenger to the circle. Clevenger picked up the win, gave up one earned run, three unearned runs, on two hits, 11 walks, and fanned 13 batters.
Team Florida was the visiting team against Hope Mills and went on offense first. Aamyia Speights led off with a single down the third base line but was out on a fielder’s choice by Peyton Clevenger. Back-to-back outs followed to end the inning with no runs crossing the plate. Hope Mills plated one run in the bottom of the frame.
Team Florida countered with a run in the top of the second inning. With two outs, Savannah Jane Grimsley went yard to score Team Florida’s first run. Hope Mills was kept off the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning.
Team Florida plated four runs in the top of the third inning with Hope Mills countering with two. Charlee May got things going when she waited patiently for a walk. With one out, Aniyah Fluitt went up the middle for a single to put runners on first and second. Aamiyah Speights singled to load the bases for slugger Peyton Clevenger to clear them all with a GRAND SLAM! With two outs, Natalie Tyus singled up the middle, but a strikeout ended the inning with Team Florida holding a 5-3 lead.
A leadoff walk to Madison Gilbert started the fourth inning. With one out, Avery Vassallo drew a walk, but back-to-back strikeouts left two runners on the bags. Hope Mills was held scoreless in the bottom of the frame.
Team Florida added two runs in the fifth and final inning. Aniyah Fluitt led off with a single and moved to second on a single straight up the middle by Aamyia Speights. Peyton Clevenger singled to right center to load the bases. With two outs, a sacrifice fly by Natalie Tyus scored Fluitt. With two outs, BreAnna Brown singled down the right field line to score Speights for the final offense for Team Florida. Hope Mills threatened with two outs, when they drew back-to-back walks, but a strikeout followed to end the inning and the game.
