Vehicle Theft Investigation Leads to Arrest Warrants for Four Juveniles
The Jackson County Times received the following press release from the Marianna Police Department.
Between May 8, 2026, and May 11, 2026, the Marianna Police Department responded to and investigated three vehicle thefts and one vehicle burglary within the City of Marianna.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects had been targeting unlocked vehicles prior to the thefts. After entering the vehicles, the suspects located keys that had been left inside and used them to steal the vehicles.
Investigators determined that in one incident the stolen vehicle was later returned to its original location. In the other incidents, the vehicles were abandoned after being taken. One stolen vehicle was recovered at the end of a dead-end street, while another was located in a wooded area.
Throughout the investigation, investigators identified a primary suspect, which ultimately led to the identification of three additional suspects. All four suspects were determined to be juveniles, none over the age of fifteen.
Investigators obtained evidence establishing probable cause to charge the four juveniles with the vehicle thefts and burglaries in which they were involved.
On May 19, 2026, investigators applied for and were granted arrest warrants for all four juveniles. At the time of this release, two of the juveniles have been apprehended, while the remaining two are still being sought.
“These incidents serve as an important reminder for our community to take simple precautions that can greatly reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim. We strongly encourage citizens to lock their vehicles, remove valuables from plain view, and never leave keys or key fobs inside unattended vehicles. A few extra seconds to secure your vehicle can prevent significant loss and help protect our community.” said Chief Hayes Baggett. If anyone has any information in regards to these crimes you are encouraged to contact the Marianna Police Department.
All juveniles charged in this case will be transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice following apprehension.
