West Florida Electric Cooperative Welcomes New CEO Nathan Berry

Nathan Berry EVP & CEO at West Florida Electric Cooperative

West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFEC) is pleased to announce and welcome Nathan Berry as their Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer.

Berry and his family made the move from Kentucky in late July and have quickly settled into the Wiregrass area. He and his wife, Carrie, have been married for 23 years. Together, they are raising two daughters, Addison (17) and Maddie (15), both of whom are competitive horse show participants. As a family, the Berrys enjoy boating, camping, and traveling, and are excited to explore their new community.

Berry brings an impressive background of education and leadership experience to WFEC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Louisville. His career began at Louisville Gas and Electric’s Trimble County Generating Station as a maintenance supervisor before he transitioned to Duke Energy’s Gibson Generating Station as a system engineer.

From there, his career took him to Alabama Power Company in Birmingham, where he advanced from engineering team leader to operations team leader at Miller Steam Plant. Berry then joined the cooperative world with Big Rivers Electric Corporation in Western Kentucky, where he served in several key leadership positions, Operations Manager, Plant Manager of the D.B. Wilson Generating Station, Vice President of Production, and finally Chief Operating Officer. In that role, Berry was responsible for power production, transmission, economic development, and information technology.

Now, Berry is bringing that breadth of experience to West Florida Electric. He and his family have chosen to reside in Rehobeth, Alabama, where they can stay connected to both their new community and his new role.

WFEC Board President Tim Arnold said the cooperative could not be more pleased with their decision. “Nathan Berry is one of the most experienced and credentialed leaders we could have hoped for,” Arnold said. “His education, his extensive background in both investor-owned utilities and the cooperative system, and his proven record of leadership make him an outstanding fit for our organization. After a comprehensive interview process, it was clear he was the right choice to guide WFEC into the future. We are confident that under his leadership, the cooperative will continue to thrive and serve our members with excellence.”
