Realia - Noun: Objects and material from everyday life; especially when used as teaching aids. The visiting firefighter dazzled the schoolkids with his realia, which included his helmet, oxygen tank, and ax.
Chambray – Noun: A linen-finished gingham cloth with a white weft and a colored warp, producing a mottled appearance. He wore a blue chambray shirt with pearl snap buttons.
Ossified – Verb: Having turned into bone or bony tissue. Bone is formed from cartilage that has ossified.
Accede – Verb: Agree to a demand request or treaty. Assume an office or position. The authorities decided to accede to the thief’s demands in exchange for the painting.
Brouhaha – Noun: An uproar, hullabaloo, disturbance. A brouhaha erupted over her states about the senator.
Errant – Adjective: Erring or straying from the proper course or standards. He could never forgive his daughter’s errant ways.
Sonorous – Adjective: Capable of producing a deep or ringing sound. I chose the narrator for the audiobook of my first novel based on his rich sonorous voice.
