Janice "Jan" Kay Waters Rabon

Janice "Jan" Kay Waters Rabon

Janice "Jan" Kay Waters Rabon, age 66, passed away unexpectedly from heart-related complications on January 9, 2026.

She was born in Evanston, Illinois, to her parents, Roger and Clara Waters. She grew up in Wheeling, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Jan spent most of her childhood and schooling in Wheeling, before the family moved to Alford, Florida during her high school years. She graduated from Cottondale High School in the Class of 1978.

Jan worked several jobs, including the Marianna Convalescent Center, Chipola College and Walmart. She retired early and spent her days doing what she loved most; watching Heartland and Florida State football, relaxing in her recliner with crosswords and word searches, fishing at the creek, visiting the occasional alligator that lived there, dining out with her beloved soulmate, Carl, and riding the dirt roads in the hot rod (4x4) while visiting friends and neighbors. Jan and Carl also enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evenings, enjoying nature and people-watching. She loved spending time with her dog, Charlie, and the herd of cats that had adopted her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Clara Waters, and by both sets of grandparents, Charles and Katherine Waters as well as Ford and Faye Beggs.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her companion and best friend of 28 years, Carl Hussey of Marianna, Florida; her daughter, Jennifer Tipton (Shane) of Marianna, Florida; her granddaughters, Jade and Veda Tipton of Marianna, Florida; and her great-grandson, whom she fondly called “Cobra Kai,” Kaijari Simmons of Marianna, Florida. She is also survived by her siblings, Lana-Jean Rickmann of Germany, Katherine Arbona of Alford, Florida, and Douglas Waters (Kathy) of Alford, Florida, as well as her last living uncle, Joe Beggs (Sheryl) of Buncombe, Illinois. Jan was known as Aunt Jan to many nieces and nephews and had many cousins throughout the United States. She will be dearly missed by her friends and neighbors, including longtime friends, Penny and Kenny Wayne Hussey, her dog, Charlie, and all her cat companions.

A private service will be held at their residence at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Lambe family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
