Ms. Linda Capps
Ms. Linda Capps, 80, of Panama City, FL passed away surrounded by love and family on 3/4/2026 in Grand Ridge, FL.
Linda was born on August 23, 1945 to Mildred Pearline Kirkland in South Georgia and was raised in Bascom by her mother along with her beloved Uncle Pat and Aunt Beulah.

She enjoyed working as a bartender for 26 years where she was always the most stylish one in the room. She was the listening ear to many and formed lifelong friendships that she held close to her heart.
She found happiness in life’s simple everyday moments. She was a loyal fan of The Young and the Restless and would rarely miss an episode even scheduling her weekly hair appointments around the 11 am time slot! She could often be found at thrift stores or enjoying the thrill of a good yard sale always searching for little treasures that reminded her of someone she loved. She loved to shop for good deals and enjoyed a good pedicure with her buddy Joe.
Granny’s home was never empty if she had her way. She made sure she always had something to eat or a sweet treat ready and ALWAYS made sure she had candy for all the children every holiday.
Any grandchild that walked through her door knew they would be greeted with a “Hey baby” and a warm hug. Everyone would get a card and special phone call singing just to you. Her home is where everyone felt welcomed and loved.
She was raised as an only child but she built a family that grew far beyond what she started with. She was the proud mother to 4 children, grandmother to 10 grandchildren, great grandmother to 24 and great great grandmother to 9. She was granny to us all and the heart of a family that grew from just one to a family tree that will continue to grow with love for generations to come.
Family holidays were when she was in her element. Some of her most cherished times were spent in her single wide trailer where she would pour her love into cooking a meal fit for a king filling the home with food, stories and togetherness.
She made sure she fed everyone including the cats she loved and neighborhood wildlife. Later in life she enjoyed the simple pleasure of visiting with family and friends over takeout where no visit was ever quite long enough.
More than anything she loved being surrounded by the people that she cherished. She created a home where everyone felt welcomed and a family that will carry her love for generations. Though her chair may now be empty, the love she poured into her family will continue to fill our hearts and our family gatherings for the rest of our lives.

Linda was predeceased by her beloved mother Mildred Pearline Baggett, her children Donna Capps and Randy Capps and her great great grandsons Anthony, Brady and Brody Taylor.
She is survived by her son Scott Capps (Jodi) and her daughter Gina Whitmire (Jimmy). Her grandchildren Shauna Foran (Mark), Lucas Capps (Shannon), Joshua Capps (Stacy), Randee Lin Capps, Brett Capps (Jenn), Shelby Wilson (Joseph), Blake Whitmire, Sabrina Williams (Sa’Voric), Talya Capps, Kaleb Capps and many loved great and great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday March 13, 2026 from 9-10 am. A funeral service will be held at 10 am at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew Ricky Tipton officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons Joshua Capps, Brett Capps, Jimmy Whitmire, Blake Whitmire, Kaleb Capps as well as her third shift feed man Mark Foran.
