Betty J. Johns, age 79, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Betty was born on November 1, 1945 in Bonifay, FL. She was the daughter of the late Vina Lene and Eddie Lee Jones and was a 1963 graduate of Chattahoochee High School. Soon after, Betty met the love of her life, Charles "Charlie" Johns and they married in 1968 at the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee, FL. Betty and Charles then moved to Pensacola, FL where he served in the Navy before returning to Chattahoochee to raise their three children. Betty was a homemaker for many years before her children attended school. She had several places of employment before retiring as a school secretary from Victory Christian Academy after 15 years of committed service. Betty, along with her closest friend, Annie Flowers, led a Christian ministry at the Jackson County Jail  for numerous years. While there, she ministered the love of Christ to thousands of women. In her free time, Betty enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, going on long car rides, and above all, being with her family, all of whom she loved dearly. She was a longtime member of Victory Christian Church where she made lifelong friendships with people she considered family. Betty loved and served the Lord faithfully, along with making it a priority to raise her children in a Christ centered home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her step father, Howard Brogdon; brother, Earl Jones, and grand daughter, Kayla Gant.

Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Charles Johns of Marianna, FL; son, Shelby Johns and wife, Rhonda of Blairsville, GA; daughters, Jennifer Castleberry and husband, David of Marianna, FL, Selina McDaniel of Marianna, FL as well as her grandchildren, Hayley Johns, Dylan Johns, Charlie Smith, Chase Smith, Chelsie Mathews, Faith Castleberry, Sara Castleberry, Ryder McDaniel and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastors David Pipping and Kevin Yoder officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
