Billy “Big” Ray Moore

Billy “Big” Ray Moore, II, age 46, of Panama City, Florida, passed away on July 13, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1979, in Moultrie, Georgia, and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love for the people and animals who shared his days.

Billy completed his high school education and quickly entered the workforce as an entrepreneur, building a life through determination, skill, and a strong work ethic. He worked for himself in many different trades over the years, including heavy equipment operation, mechanics, tree arbor work, dog grooming, and carpentry. He took great pride in using his hands to create special pieces for family members and friends, and he was known for the care and craftsmanship he brought to everything he did. His willingness to work hard and his ability to turn his talents into a livelihood reflected the character of a man who valued honesty, independence, and perseverance.

Billy was a collector of many things, but he was especially drawn to silver, cast iron, and other precious metals. He appreciated the history, value, and uniqueness of the items he gathered, and his interests reflected his thoughtful and curious nature. He was also an avid animal lover who found great comfort and joy in the companionship of his pets. His two faithful dogs, Kugo and Molly Girl, and his grand dog, Beasley, were cherished parts of his daily life, and he shared morning conversations with them each day that brought him peace and happiness. Above all else, Billy was a family man to the core. He loved his family deeply and treasured every moment he could spend with them.

Billy was preceded in death by his biological father, Billy Ray Moore, I; his mother, Mavis Leviner Jackson; and his stepfather, who raised him, Jerald Jackson. Their memories remained an important part of his life, and the love and lessons they gave him helped shape the man he became.

He is survived by his wife, Tonya Garrison Moore; his three sons, Garrison Moore, Ethan Morris, and Eric Capri; his two sisters, Sandra Rentz and her husband Rodney, and Jerry Sangster and her husband Bill; his father and mother-in-law, James R. Garrison and Barbara Garrison; his sister-in-law, Stephanie Garrison Turner and her husband Mike; his two best friends, Scott Barron and JD LaDart; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs and grand dog. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will remember his loyalty, his humor, and the steady presence he brought into their lives.

Billy will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, the work he accomplished with his own hands, and the strong bonds he built with those around him. He lived with a generous spirit and a deep devotion to the people and animals he held dear. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM Central time.  Visitation will follow immediately after the service.
