Robert Frederick Kolmetz
Robert Frederick Kolmetz, age 99, of Cedar Grove, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Bonifay Nursing Home. He was born on September 24, 1926, to the late Frederick Nicholas Kolmetz and Maude Kolmetz.
Frederick was a graduate of Vernon High School, Class of 1944. He married the love of his life, Nadine Sowell Kolmetz, on January 7, 1951, and they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. He proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran during World War II aboard the USS Rutland (APA-192). Frederick was a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church in Panama City, Florida, and was employed by International Paper Company in Panama City until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nadine Kolmetz; an infant son; a granddaughter, Holly Kolmetz; and a brother, Jobie Kolmetz.
Frederick is survived by two sons: Robert Kolmetz, Jr. and wife Debbie of Ponce de Leon, Florida, and Charles Kolmetz and wife Dixie of Wausau, Florida. He is also survived by eight granddaughters: Brittany Whitfield (husband Matt) of Wausau, Florida; Bridget Alford (husband Clint) of Ponce de Leon, Florida; Christy English (husband Stacey) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; Ashley Brown (husband Philip) of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; Amber Ivey (husband Eric) of Chipley, Florida; Tiffany Jones (husband Jesse) of Ponce de Leon, Florida; Megan Powell (husband Dustin) of Ponce de Leon, Florida; and Kacie Kolmetz of Ponce de Leon, Florida.
He is further survived by five great-grandchildren: Abby and Allie Alford of Ponce de Leon, Florida; Carlie Whitfield of Wausau, Florida; and Ava and Kole Powell of Ponce de Leon, Florida; as well as two brothers, George Kolmetz and Danny Kolmetz, both of Vernon, Florida.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Phil Edwards officiating. Interment will take place at Wausau Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wausau, Florida.
