Robert Alexander Rumbley, Jr.

Robert Alexander Rumbley, Jr., known to many as “Bob”, left this life and entered his heavenly home on January 4, 2026. Bob was born in Orlando, Florida on March 23, 1947 to parents Robert Alexander Rumbley, Sr. and Belle Henshaw Rumbley. Upon graduating from Florida State University, he made his home in Tallahassee and would soon thereafter work at several jobs in heavy construction until finally joining the Office of Disability which led to 33 years of purposeful professional work to the State of Florida and the disabled.

A devout Christian, Bob spent his adult years serving his church as a deacon, choir member and Bible studies teacher for different groups. He was also proud to be the co-founder and director of CARE Tallahassee for over 20 years, while fulfilling their ministry of offering not only residential support to countless men following their release from prison, but also spiritual support by teaching them who Jesus is so they could commit to a new life in Christ.

Bob loved to travel with his wife and family and cherished the time they spent in the Caribbean, Colorado, the Smokies, the Florida Keys, Israel, France and England but he enjoyed cruising around nearby destinations such as Port St. Joe and Cape San Blas just as much. Hunting, fishing and admiring the great outdoors God created was always a big part of Bob’s life, along with the years he spent playing softball and as a taxidermist. No matter what, he always made sure he wasn’t too busy to read at least two books a week.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Faye Seals Rumbley; cousins Robert M. Rumbley, Paul Rumbley and Anne Marie Hancock; sister-in-law Dotty Cook; nephews Bryan Cook and Brandon Cook. Bob also leaves behind a host of other extended family members as well as his beloved church family whom he loved deeply.

The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Immanuel Baptist Church on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 10:00am with a funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00am. A committal service will be held at Cottondale First Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 1:00pm CT.

Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
