Barbara Ann Glover Craven, age 83, of Marianna, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on May 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Quincy, Florida and graduated from James A. Shanks High School. She lived most of her life in Marianna with her late husband, James H. Craven. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elsie Glover and her sister, Sue Donaldson. She is survived by her children, Bryan Craven (Ashley) and Barbara Candace Barnes; grandchildren, Madelyn Grace Craven, Jack Gordon Craven (Madison) and Caleb Joseph (CJ) Barnes; great grandchildren, Jenny Craven and Allie Craven. She also is survived by her brothers, Joe Glover (Bonnie) and Rick Glover, and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Barbara was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna and the Marianna Junior Woman’s Club. She was known for being a sweet person with a genuine smile and for her unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and faith. She was a Real Estate Appraiser and Broker operating Hinson and Associates for many years. Barbara was very proud of her work and had a reputation for preparing excellent appraisals.
Barbara lived the final years of her life in her dream house on Merritt’s Millpond in Marianna, where she created a loving home filled with laughter, good food and family. She loved cruising down the millpond in the family pontoon boat with grandchildren on board. Barbara loved annual family beach vacations with her sister Sue’s family. She loved sunsets and she spent many Mother’s Days at the beach with her children. She touched many lives through her kindness, her encouragement and her quiet strength.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Marianna, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM and services to follow at 12:00 PM. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Vince Smith and directed by Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
She will be laid to rest during a private graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, surrounded by her family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the Ruth Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Marianna.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Lambe Family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
