Barbara Gail Turner
Barbara Gail Turner passed away on May 12, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, at the age of 69 after a long health struggle. Born on June 24, 1955, in Chipley, Florida, Barbara lived a life marked by independence, adventure, and cherished family connections.
In her early years, Barbara found joy in simple pleasures and bold pursuits alike. She had a passion for baking—an activity that brought warmth to many gatherings—and a love for the mountains that reflected her appreciation for nature’s quiet beauty. Perhaps most notably, Barbara embraced the open road as an over-the-road truck driver, a role that spoke to her adventurous spirit. Barbara also had a heart of gold that shined through her personality and always wanted to help any way she could.
Barbara was part of a close-knit family and is remembered with love by her sister Shriyl Fussell (Thomas); sister Linda Turner Street (Bob); brother Glen Turner (Sherry). Her legacy continues through nieces Kayla Trimm (J.R.), Chelsea Douglas (Logan), Candace Parker (Sam), Alexis Meadows (Ben); nephew Stephen Street (Allie); several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will carry forward memories of time spent together.
Barbara is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Allen Carter; maternal grandmother Gladys Irene Carter; Paternal grandfather Henry Turner; paternal grandmother Maxie Carroll (Turner); father Clarence Turner; and Mother Helen Turner.
May Barbara’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her and serve as a reminder of a life lived with authenticity and heart.
