Barbara Lynn Hudson (Lynn) of Hudson, Florida, was found deceased in her home on March 17, 2026. She was born in Opelika, Alabama on June 28, 1961, to James Barnett Hudson, Sr., and Barbara Young Hudson.
Lynn grew up in Marianna, Florida, and graduated from Marianna High School in 1979, and then attended Chipola Junior College. In 1986, she joined the Army and trained as a Combat Medic at the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences. She was very proud to be a medic and earned her Expert Field Medical Badge. It was intense training and testing, including a long, grueling road march with a 50-lb pack and rifle. The Army promoted her to Corporal, a position as a junior non-commissioned officer because of her leadership skills.
After serving time in the Army, Lynn remained in Houston, Texas, joined the Army National Guard, and working at B. Dalton Bookseller as store manager for six years. In 1995 she began working at Borders Books Music & Café as Merchandising HR and LP Manager. She later trained to be a travel agent, working first in Houston, then moving to Orlando, Florida, working for Dillards Travel for several years. She later moved to Tallahassee, Florida and enjoyed helping her mother and brother with taking care of her nephew. She recently moved to Hudson, Florida, to be near her family.
Throughout her life, Lynn was an avid reader, loved listening to many genres of music, was an avid Auburn fan, and loved her cats, friends, and family.
She was preceded in death by her younger brother, James Barnett Hudson, Jr. (Jamey), her father, James Barnett Hudson, Sr. (Jimmy). She is survived by her mother, Barbara Young Hudson, younger sister Laurie Hudson Mikuta (Joel), nephew Bryson Hudson, niece Georgia Mikuta, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Prevatt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hudson, Florida, is assisting the family with cremation. Her family is planning a private memorial service at a later date.
