Dorothy "Dot" Whitaker

Dorothy "Dot" Whitaker, age 97, of Graceville, Florida, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Ft. Walton Rehabilitation Center.

 Mrs. Dot was born July 24, 1929, in Holmes County, Florida to the late Manos Evans and Trudie Tindel Evans. A 1947 graduate of Graceville High School, Mrs. Dot married the love of her life Wiley in 1952, moving to Graceville the same year. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Dot was known as a "good cook", enjoying cooking for her family and friends, especially cakes and tea cakes. She enjoyed crafts and upholstery for several years and the oldest long-time member of Damascus Baptist Church.

 Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 71 years Wiley Daniel "Buddy" Whitaker, three sisters Mary Farmer, Ruth Hinson, Tessa Baggett and one brother Floyd Evans.

Survivors include one son Dale Whitaker (Eulene), one daughter Diane Whitaker (Dennis Seymour), four grandchildren Carman Whitaker (Jessica), Sydney Whitaker Wolford (Marcus), Revonda Seymour, Shane Seymour, ten great grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.

 Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. (CDT), Monday August 3, 2026, at Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Chester Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends on Monday, 9 a.m. until time of service.
