Fannie Ruth Kirkland, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Marianna, Florida, at the age of 75. Fannie was born on April 18, 1950, in Jackson County, Florida.
Fannie spent her formative years at Kynesville Elementary School before her academic path led her to Cottondale High School, where she graduated. Fannie's professional life was marked by her dedicated service to the State of Florida, where she worked diligently for 19 years. She retired from her role as a driver's license examiner at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Beyond her family and work, Fannie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid yard sale enthusiast, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and unique finds. Her love for the outdoors was undeniable, with fishing trips being among her favorite activities. Fannie's connection with nature and the tranquility it offered was a source of great happiness and peace for her. “Nanny” especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fannie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ronald Henderson; her parents, Dutch and Allie Fennell Rowe; her brothers, James and Irvin Rowe; her sister, Margaret Hinson; brother in-laws, Fred Bennett and Harold Locke.
Family was the cornerstone of Fannie's life. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Donna Davis and Tammy Mohrmann (Chris); her caring sisters, Martha Bennett and Sue Locke Bergman (Richard); sister-in-law, Sandra Rowe, and brother in-law, Clyde Hinson. Fannie's legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Zachary Henderson (Rose), Xavier Davis, Courtney Locke (Alex), Cayla Fletcher (Connor), Allen Mohrmann, Carter Mohrmann and Java Henderson, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Breeana, Destiny, Zoey, Jaiden, Javelle, and Astrid; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, will also hold Fannie's memory dear.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Jackson Hospital ER, SCU, and Teresa for the exceptional care they gave.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Lambe Family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
