Florence Daniels Kirkland, age 99 of Miami, FL and formerly from Madrid AL passed away Thursday January 22, 2026 in Miami, FL.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday 9, 2026 at the Shira and Chelcie Memorial Chapel located 5304 Bowden Hill Road, Campbell ton, FL with Reverends David Britt and Willis Dean, Ministers Shelonda Rhynes and Johnny Watford officiating. Interment followed in St. Phillip Cemetery located 1112 Singletary Road Slocomb, AL with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton directing.
Florence Kirkland was born on September 1, 1926, in Madrid, Alabama, to the late Deacon Archie Daniels Sr. and Dora Dean Daniels. One of twelve siblings, she was raised and educated in Dothan, Alabama, where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
On December 24, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Rumfle D. Kirkland Sr. the couple relocated to Miami, Florida where they would raise the four children born to their union: Rumfle D. Kirkland Jr., Marie Kirkland Scott, Shirley Kirkland and Patricia Kirkland. A woman of remarkable strength, Florence is preceded in death by all four of her children.
Throughout her professional life, Florence worked as a housekeeper, a waitress, and a cook for the Miami Dade County Public Schools System. She was also a dedicated childcare provider within her community.
Affectionately known as "Big Ma," she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed family gatherings and road trips. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. A highly respected matriarch, she taught her family the importance of faith, the wisdom of Psalm 23, and the value of perseverance.
Florence’s faith remained her foundation throughout her journey. She found a spiritual home at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Randall Holts. A faithful member of the choir for many years, she served the Lord with grace and unwavering trust. On Thursday, January 22, 2026, she peacefully departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by 4 grandchildren William Scott, Theresa Scott, Moniqua Kirkland and Shanika Sanders; 7 siblings: Eunice McClendon, Retha Hartfield, Mabel Mack, Nelson Daniels Sr., L.T. Daniels, Archie Daniels Jr., and Willie Edward; and 1 great-grandchild: Lenthius Byrd Jr.
Leaving to cherish her memory 8 grandchildren: Roderick Kirkland, Dwayne Kirkland (Carline), Shawntia Kirkland (Darrick), Jermaine Kirkland, Antwan Sanders, Nadriean Scott-Patterson, Jabari Lewis (Phoebe) and Arneatra Kirkland (Thaddeus Jr.), over 50 great-grandchildren, 4 siblings: Johnnie Bell Washington, Willie Mae Carswell, Emma Daniels, Raymond Daniels (Warnetta); a sister-in-law Agnes Daniels; a host of many relatives, and friends who will continue her legacy.
