Frances Mercer Williams, 89, of Grand Ridge, Florida died Tuesday, April 16, 2026,  at the Courtyard in Marianna, Florida.

She was born October 13, 1936, in Sneads, Florida to Hubert and Tennie Moneyham Mercer.  She worked at Sunland Center for many years as a Pastry Cook before she retired. 

Frances took her signature chocolate cake to as many events as she could at her home church, El Bethel Assembly of God, where she was a member for many years. Frances also loved fishing and was a multi-time winner of the El Bethel fishing tournament. 

She loved the simple and beautiful things of life. Tending to her flowers, crocheting, and baking were some of her favorite hobbies. Frances enjoyed gathering with family at weekend cookouts, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all, Frances was a devoted Christian, faithful mother and loved granny.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Williams, Sr.; parents; sisters, Robbie Wilson, Ocie Williams, Edna Lawrence, Nellie Whiddon; and brother, Lemuel Mercer.

She is survived by her children, Rae Maphis and wife, Cathy, Charles Maphis and wife, Kim, and Larry Maphis; grandchildren, Chris Maphis (Tanya), Crystal Enfinger (Matt), Charlsie Robinson (Jackie), Kerri Maphis, Cody Maphis (Erin), Tracy Anderson (Rustin), Kayla Green (Justin); 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Mercer, Gene Mercer; and sister, Juanita Buckhalter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, April 20, 2026, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Reverends Clinton Howell and Bill Mayo officiating.  Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Monday, April 20, 2026.
