Woodrow Wilson Rogers Jr.

Woodrow Wilson Rogers Jr., 82, of Malone, FL, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on October 11, 2025. A beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was a fisherman and an avid fisher of men. He always had a joke ready to brighten the room and a smile that welcomed everyone.  He was known for his jokes and long-running pranks, always keeping those around him laughing and on their toes.

Woodrow Wilson Rogers Jr.

Born in Blakely, GA, and a longtime resident of Malone, Wilson had a passion for trucking and family. His 50-year career in trucking left him with stories that could fill a library, yet he always said his greatest joys were his faith and his family.  A friendly face and faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, he shared the good news and good humor in equal measure, always leaving others better than he found them.

After retirement, Wilson enjoyed the quiet pleasures of country life—picking up pecans on his Kubota, gardening, bushhogging, feeding the deer, and checking the fence. These simple joys reflected the way he lived: hands-on, grounded, and full of care for the people and world around him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Rogers Sr.; his mother, Jeanettie Matthews Rogers; and his brother, Joe Rogers.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 63 years Janice Strickland Rogers, brother Curtis Rogers (Billie); his daughters Jenell Ramsey (Ken) of Cottondale, FL, and Leafa McDaniel (Keith) of Fredericksburg, VA; and his sons Bubba Rogers (Missy) and Richard Rogers (Donna), both of Malone, FL.

He also leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren: Wilton Maloy, Crystal Creamer, Stanton Maloy, Stefani Jackson, C.J. Rogers, Brittany Alford, Tiffany Johnson, Leigh Anna Garnett, Kendall Estes, Tristen Rogers, Wade McDaniel, Randy Rogers, Kaylee McDaniel, Kayla Phillips, Hellena Gibson, and Jerry Arrant. In addition, he is survived by 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church in Malone, FL.

A celebration of life service will take place at the church on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Nash Wills officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.
