Harlan W. Linder, who was born on September 22, 1934, in Morrison, Illinois, and passed away on June 3, 2026, in Panama City, Florida, lived a life marked by service, faith, devotion to family, and a genuine appreciation for each day he was given.
He was the son of the late Harry R. Linder, Sr. and the late Mary B. Burch Linder. Harlan carried with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance throughout his life, and those who knew him will remember him as a man who met life with a steady spirit and a welcoming smile. He lived in this area for the past 18 years after moving from Phoenix, Arizona, and he quickly became a familiar and respected presence in the community.
Harlan served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, where he worked as a Crew Chief and retired after 20 years of dedicated service with the rank of Master Sergeant. His military career was a source of great pride, and he was especially proud to have flown Air Force One for many years. His years of service reflected his commitment to duty, excellence, and responsibility, and he earned the respect of all who served alongside him.
Faith was an important part of Harlan’s life. He was a Christian and attended Grand Ridge Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and strength. His faith guided him through life and was evident in the way he treated others, with kindness, humility, and grace. He was known as a man who always had a smile, and his warm presence brought comfort and encouragement to those around him.
Harlan enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and made the most of every moment. He spent a lot of time with his great grandson, Russell Chancey, whom he affectionately called “Junior,” and that time together brought him great joy. He also cherished his granddaughter, Alasia Edgington, and took great pride in his family. He was survived by his daughter, Lori Law, and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Edgington, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. His beloved cat, Katrina, was also a part of his daily life and companionship. Harlan enjoyed watching westerns on television, and he found comfort and enjoyment in the familiar stories and characters he loved.
Those who knew Harlan will remember that he enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He had a positive outlook, a kind heart, and a way of making others feel at ease. His life was one of service to his country, devotion to his faith, and love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Harlan W. Linder will be remembered with love and respect by his family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by his presence. His memory will remain a lasting blessing to those who knew him, and his life stands as a testament to faith, service, and a life well lived.
In honoring Harlan's wishes no services are planned and memorialization will be by cremation. He will be laid to rest in the Tallahassee National
