James Bradley Kirkland

James Bradley Kirkland (Brad) died peacefully at home in Dothan, AL on Friday evening, April 24th 2026. Brad was born in Marianna, FL on 8/22/59 to the late Patricia Ann Kirkland and Rex Rollan Kirkland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sheila Laney Kirkland; His eldest son, Justin Bradley Kirkland; His youngest son, Jared Laney Kirkland and wife Rechelle; Three precious granddaughters - Kellyn Elizabeth Corbitt, Ava Kathryn Kirkland, and Emily Charlotte Kirkland; His sister, Tammy Braxton and husband Mike; His nephew, Patrick Braxton and wife Tabbatha; His niece, Keila Mathis and husband William; His brother-in-law Roger Laney and wife Margie; His niece, Chelsea Pettis and husband Dallas; and His nephew, Chase Laney.

Brad dedicated much of his life to serving others. He worked for 19 years as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, faithfully serving his community. He also spent 20 years as a barber at Kirkland’s Barber Shop in Bonifay, where he built lasting friendships with those he served

The family would like to thank the staff of Flowers Hospital, the staff & therapists at Encompass Health, as well as Adoration Home Health and Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care and support provided to Brad and his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 30th at 2:00 PM at Grace Assembly in Chipley, FL with Rev. Dallas Pettis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of their choice.
