Judy Scipper Lanier
Judy Scipper Lanier, 70, of Sneads, Florida, passed away on July 20, 2026, in the comfort of her home in Sneads, Florida. She was born on March 29, 1956, in Quincy, Florida, and lived a life marked by faith, hard work, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that touched many in her community.
Judy was a lifelong resident of Sneads. She was a Sneads High graduate, class of 1975 – Go Pirates! And a lifelong member of Sneads First Baptist church. Over the last 5 years, she attended United Believers Worship Center, because that’s where her babies were. She loved everything about Sneads and didn’t mind telling you so. She was a woman of action, and it showed through her hard-work and dedication to the town. She poured her heart into helping others, volunteering through the years with the SHS alumni association, recreation department, and many town, school, and church events, and devoted countless hours to Pope Cemetery. She took great pride in maintaining the cemetery with her beloved “cemetery crew.”
Judy’s career started at her daddy’s store, where you might have caught her with a Coca-Cola in hand. After high school, she went to work for the State of Florida where so many of her relationships throughout life were formed. After retiring, she enjoyed working outside, beautifying her environment, and most of all spending time with family, and friends. Her greatest passion and favorite titles were Moma and Meme.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmus Eugene and Mattie Louise Segers Scipper; her son, Jeff Lanier; her brother, Larry Scipper; her sisters, Sharon Scipper and Patricia Scipper; and her lifelong best friend, Ruth Brooks.
She is survived by her son, John Aaron Lanier and his wife Kelly; her brother, Tullis Scipper and his wife Brenda; her sister, Linda Carol Taymon; three grandchildren, Kaylee Rogers and her husband Kent, Aiden Lanier, and Maddox Lanier; two great-grandchildren, KJ Rogers and Brantley Rogers; her special friend and companion, James Wayne Dickson; the father of her children, John Lanier; her special aunt, Juanita Mears; two very dear friends she called her “special angels,” Kay Neel and Nicki Reed; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Friday, July 24, 2026, we will “honor her for all that her hands have done” (Prov 31:31) in the sanctuary of United Believers Worship Center. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM Central Time, followed by a Celebration of Judy’s Life at 12:00 PM Central Time. Burial will be in her beloved Pope Cemetery in Sneads. To honor Judy’s love for the Sneads Pirates please wear your blue and gold!
Judy’s family welcomes any flowers; however, it was Judy’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Pope Cemetery Association PO Box 333 Sneads, FL 32460 in her memory.
