Mrs. Elouise Johnson
Mrs. Elouise Johnson
Mrs. Elouise Johnson, age 90, during her second week of rehab, at the Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chipley, Florida, she decided on Monday, January 26, 2026, to make her Heavenly transition.
Affectionately known as “Punch,” was born to the late Frankie Brown and Jethro Russ on September 26, 1935, in Jackson County, Florida. It was there where she grew up, where she attended and graduated from the public school system.
Early in life she confessed and made Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of her life and joined St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, in Jacob City, Florida. Later in life she came under one roof with her husband at Springfield African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Marianna, Florida. During her active time there, she served as a Stewardess and was once a member of the Choir.
After years of dedicated service, she worked for and retired from Campbellton-Graceville Hospital in Graceville, Florida. During her tenure there, she was known to wear a smile and to greet people by saying “Hello Sweet Peaches.”
She loved cooking, shopping, wearing her hats, her husband’s jokes, watching westerns or better yet the westerns watching her. More importantly, she loved her Family. She did not “play” when it came to family.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 60 years, Jaries Johnson, Sr.; a daughter Carolyn Dean; a brother Travelis Russ, Sr.; a sister Helen Pittman Newman and a bonus sister Idell Young.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Shirley (Johnny) Jenkins of Port St. Joe, Florida, Herbert (Hazel) Russ of Dothan, Alabama, Gwendolyn Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Carlton Johnson of Jacob City, Florida, Carla Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia and Jaries Johnson Jr. of Jacob City, Florida; eleven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; four sisters-in-loves: Rosa Lee Russ of Orlando, Florida, Rachel Lee Tucker of Campbellton, Florida, Sallie R. Johnson of Chipley, Florida, Eula Lee Johnson of Jacob City, Florida; two brothers-in-loves: Edward Johnson of Campbellton, Florida, Eddie Dean Johnson (Pearl) of Campbellton, Florida; a host of wonderful nieces and nephews, relatives, dear neighbors and family friends.
“MUDEAR,” although you will be GREATLY missed here on earth, this is not your end, you have just started your WONDERFUL beginning – LOVE YOU, your Children!
Public visitation will be 4-6 PM, Friday, January 30, 2026, at the M. Sue & Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street, Graceville, Florida.
A service of love will begin at 11 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Springfield AME Church, Marianna, Florida.
She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.
