Louise Dodd Smith

Louise Dodd Smith, age 75, of Marianna, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. She was born on June 3, 1950, in Haleyville, Alabama, and lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and devotion to the people she loved.

Louise was a member of the Caverns Road Church of Christ and her relationship with the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and she especially loved to socialize and share in the simple joys of everyday life. Louise also loved to shop and had a special talent for finding the best bargains. She spent her early childhood in Haleyville until the age of 8, when her family moved to Miami, Florida. In 1987, she made Jackson County her home and worked for Badcock in Marianna for 23 years before retirement.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Smith; her parents, Buford and Pernia Dodd; her brothers, James Dodd, John Dodd, Charlie Dodd, Billy Dodd, and O.D. Dodd; her sister, Carolyn Dodd Shelley; and her stepfather, Fred Storen.

She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Harrison James, Jr. and his wife, Jay; her granddaughter, Alyson Gwin and her husband, Cody; her brother, Leslie Dodd and his wife, Kay; her sister-in-law, Faye Dodd; her special niece, Susan Paulk; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind many dear friends who will remember her with love and gratitude.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 18, 2026 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Philip Box officiating. Interment will be private and at a later date at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will received friends for viewing and visitation, one hour prior to the service.
