Melinda Hembree, age 76, of Marianna, FL, passed away on March 5, 2026.
She was born on January 6, 1950. Melinda was known for her feisty personality, strong will and determination. She lived life on her own terms and was never afraid to speak her mind. Melinda's strong work ethic led to a dedicated career with the Department of Corrections where she retired after 15 years.
Melinda shared an especially close bond with her sister, Shirley Sue Barfoot. The two were often described as “two peas in a pod,” sharing laughter, memories and a lifelong sisterhood that meant the world to them both.
She is survived by her daughter, Christy Forrester; her sister, Shirley Sue Barfoot; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many family members who loved her including her neices, nephews and cousins.
Melinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Hembree, and her daughter, Velinda Gayle Rains. Melinda will be remembered by those whose lives she touched throughout the years.
